Base GameIn Nyakuza, first released as Orongo, players each control a cat yakuza clan and fights for domination of the seafood market in Oki-Yo Bay. Each round, more spaces are revealed in the Bay, highlighting the salmon, tuna, and other species you can catch. Players simultaneously bid for the right to claim spaces, with the winner spending their bid and claiming three spaces; other bidders spend nothing to claim two or one space, while those who bid nothing take all that was bid. When you control a group of spaces that include an open space on the perimeter of the bay, you spend money to harvest your haul, then establish a seafood stall on the edge of the bay. Whoever has placed all of their stalls now has the right to construct the "grand market" stall, and the player who does this first wins. ••• In Orongo, players participate in the building rites on Easter Island, far from other civilizations in the midst of the harsh Pacific Ocean. During the game, players pay homage to the gods in the Orongo ceremonial grounds and with their help erect the giant stone heads — Moais — that everyone now recognizes. Whoever bids the most shells grabs the best building sites and the most profitable resources for the construction of the stone colossi.
